Stevenage Glass Celebrates 60 Years of Quality Glass Manufacturing

2026 marks an incredible milestone for Stevenage Glass Company Ltd, celebrating 60 years of serving Stevenage, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Founded in 1966, Stevenage Glass has grown from a small local factory into a highly respected supplier of bespoke glass products for both the trade and the public. Over six decades, Stevenage Glass has built its reputation on craftsmanship, reliability and a strong commitment to customer service.

Today, that legacy continues as the business remains family-run, proudly upholding the same values that helped establish its reputation all those years ago.

A Family Business Built on Craftsmanship

Stevenage Glass was originally co-founded by Mr C. D. King, Mr D. Williams and Mr A. Dobson. By 1970, Stevenage Glass continued under the leadership of the King family, setting the foundation for the family legacy that continues today.

Richard King, now Sales Director, grew up around the company and has been involved with the trade for most of his life.

“I’ve been in the trade for over 30 years now, but even as a child I would come in and my Grandad and Dad taught me how to cut glass and process it.”

After leaving college, Richard began his career in the sealed unit department, working his way through the company before moving into the sales office. Over time, he took on increasing responsibilities, eventually progressing into his current role overseeing sales operations and helping manage the day-to-day running of the business.

Six Decades of Growth

Since its founding in 1966, Stevenage Glass has continuously evolved alongside the glazing industry.

Stevenage Glass moved to its Cavendish Road premises in 1972, a site that has since been extended several times to support the business’s expanding capabilities.

Over the decades, Stevenage Glass has invested in new technologies and equipment, including:

• Manufacturing sealed double glazed units
• Installing specialised machinery for glass processing
• Investing in toughened glass manufacturing
• Expanding their factory and showroom facilities
• Achieving industry accreditations, including ISO 9001 quality certification

Stevenage Glass has also been closely connected to the wider industry as an early member of the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).
